Animateur & Teacher

Lynsey is passionate about music in education & singing; the power of creativity and performance which enables children
to flourish in a way they might not in the classroom and allows adults to find a joyful and exhilirating way of expressing and sharing themselves. As a performer, singing teacher and animateur, she has worked in schools, theatres, orchestras and opera companies in projects such as choral conducting, devising opera with children, leading workshops for established young musicians and directing singing courses for adults. She has worked with Children's Music Workshops, Create2learn, Norwich Theatre Royal, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, La Folia (formerly Sarum Orchestra), has taught as a peripatetic singing teacher at leading schools in the South West and has a thriving private teaching practice. Lynsey has set up Creative Operatunities which provides opera & singing based workshops for children and adults.

"Lynsey's vibrancy creates an immediate connection with children. She sings to them & with them, dances for & with them, without inhibition or nervousness - & they respond in kind. She is an outstanding & intuitive musician with a wonderful voice for expressing that & is without compromise when presenting music/opera to children - 'dumbing down' is not a phrase she would understand. Lynsey is able to involve even the most shy & professedly 'unmusical' teacher in workshops - they end up singing as they never thought they could & are as exhilarated as their pupils."
Sue Kent, General Manager, La Folia (formerly Sarum Orchestra)

"I would not hesitate in recommending Lynsey and the wonderful work that she does. We have seen her make a real difference in all the schools we have placed her. The children become professionals, with her help in each stage of the Norfolk Schools Project - Lynsey's workshops are an experience no participant forgets."

Victoria Abrahams, Norwich Theatre Royal

"The children did absolutely love working with you and gained so much from having the opportunity to work with a professional. If you ever gave up singing you would make a fabulous teacher! The children had total respect for you and strived to do their best. It takes a special person to do this. However, if you decide to stay an opera singer then you are welcome to come and sing at our school any day!"
Amanda Yates, Headteacher

"I have really enjoyed the experience of the opera project, making the songs and then singing them but my favourite has to be the magic palace. Thankyou for encouraging us through the whole journey and finding our voice hidden inside of us. Also for building my confidence so I could do a solo. Hope you will never forget us because we will never forget you"

Jacob, Class 6
